My favorite part of today was the team building exercise. The students made a circle by connecting plastic straws to each other. Each student was given a straw and after it was assembled they placed it on the ground. They weren't allowed to talk and had to finish the task before the song ended. I loved the analogy. The circle is a powerful symbol. A week link or straw disconnected makes the circle incomplete. The music ensemble is a team and a bond is formed by everyone involved in a team or ensemble. I'm feeling overwhelmed by a whole new set of names to learn, but otherwise LOVING IT!
